HOW - FAQ

What is the temperature and climate? At the altitude of our reserve Costa Rica has a springtime climate all year long, around 70-75 degrees. Our mountain is at 3,500 ' or 980m and is chilly in the mornings and evenings, about 50-60 degrees, good for long sleeves and a fleece. You'll want to bring shorts and T-shirts for the warmth of the tropical sun as the temperature rises to 80-85 degrees during the daylight hours. I wear thin, tropical weight long pants all of the time, but most people prefer shorts in the daytime. 

How do we get there?      (If you are not taking Full Guided Transport)

A Basic Guide Line... 'Easy But Expensive' (we pick you up at the airport) and, 'Difficult But Cheap' (you find your way by bus).

There is not a short answer for getting to our reserve. We are hard to find and we are located a long way from the airport. To fly from the US and reach our camping reserve takes a day and a half. People do make it in one day but you must have dry weather and an early flight to achieve this. If you must stay in a hotel when you reach Turrialba we suggest Hostel Casa de Lis, $50 or less.

Self Guided Transport -  Busses only cost a few dollars but they are a big challenge to find.  If you are savvy with the CR Bus system you can purchase tickets online at http://transtusacr.com. At the airport the bus is found by walking off the airport grounds and looking on the side of the road for the bus shelter. Take the airport bus to the central station in San Jose. Then take a taxi to the Turrialba Bus station at  6th Avenue and 13th St. You can purchase a ticket at that location or on line beforehand. Be vigilant, watch your wallet. Board the bus and off you go to Turrialba. The ride takes several hours. The bus lets you off in Turrialba at the main depot. You have two choices for busses and can also take a 4x4 taxi from here to the reserve for 20,000 colonies. You can call Don Rene,  he drives a 4x4, 8666-7928. Best to phone or email Don in advance. When you are making your reservations with me I can give you his email. On M.W.F. there is a Special VEREH bus leaving Turrialba at 2:00 from the center of town close to a gas station: Aveninda 2, between Calle0 and Calle 2. The Jicotes bus only goes as far as Jicotea. From there you will have a long, hard, beautiful hike for 10miles. The local, Vereh bus only runs M.W.F.,  costs 2,000 colonies (about 4 US dollars) one way and  comes to La Cruze, that's one mile from the camping reserve. You can leave Vereh by this bus on M.W.F. at 7:00am. Once you have reached The Cruze  (the T in the road) in Vereh get out, follow the sign to your right for one mile. The other bus from Turrialba takes you as far as Jicotea. You’ll have a 10.2mi hike. Go straight, follow the signs, Turn right at The Rock, which you can't actually see until you’ve made the turn.

¿Cuál es la temperatura y el clima? En la altitud de nuestra reserva Costa Rica tiene un clima primaveral durante todo el año, alrededor de 70-75 grados. Nuestra montaña está a 3.500 'o 980m y es frío en las mañanas y las tardes, cerca de 50-60 grados, bueno para las mangas largas y un paño grueso y suave. Usted querrá llevar pantalones cortos y camisetas para el calor del sol tropical como la temperatura se eleva a 80-85 grados durante las horas de luz del día. Llevo pantalones largos delgados, de peso tropical todo el tiempo, pero la mayoría de la gente prefiere los pantalones cortos durante el día.

¿Cómo llegamos allí? (Si no está tomando el transporte guiado completo)

No hay una respuesta corta para llegar a nuestra reserva. Somos difíciles de encontrar y estamos ubicados un largo camino desde el aeropuerto. Para volar desde los EE.UU. y llegar a nuestra reserva de camping toma un día y medio. La gente lo hace en un día, pero debe tener tiempo seco y un vuelo temprano para lograr esto. Si usted debe permanecer en un hotel cuando llegue a Turrialba le sugerimos Hostel Casa de Lis, $ 50 o menos.

Self Guided Transport - Los autobuses sólo cuestan unos pocos dólares, pero son un gran desafío para encontrar. Si tiene experiencia con el sistema CR Bus, puede comprar boletos en línea en http://transtusacr.com. En el aeropuerto el autobús se encuentra caminando fuera de los terrenos del aeropuerto y mirando en el lado de la carretera para el refugio de autobuses. Tomar el autobús del aeropuerto a la estación central en San José. Luego tome un taxi hasta la estación de autobuses de Turrialba en la 6th Avenue y 13th St. Puede comprar un billete en esa ubicación o en línea de antemano. Sea vigilante, mire su cartera. Sube al autobús y ve a Turrialba. El trayecto dura varias horas. El autobús te deja en Turrialba en el depósito principal. Usted tiene dos opciones para los autobuses y también puede tomar un taxi 4x4 de aquí a la reserva para 20.000 colonias. Puedes llamar a Don René, él conduce un 4x4, 8666-7928. Lo mejor es llamar por teléfono o correo electrónico a Don por adelantado. Cuando usted está haciendo sus reservas conmigo puedo darle su correo electrónico. En M.W.F. Hay un autobús especial VEREH saliendo Turrialba a las 2:00 del centro de la ciudad cerca de un Gasolinera: Aveninda 2, entre Calle0 y Calle 2. El autobús Jicotes sólo llega hasta Jicotea. Desde allí tendrás una caminata larga, dura, hermosa para 10miles. El local, el autobús de Vereh sólo corre M.W.F., cuesta 2,000 colonias (unos 4 dólares) de una manera y viene a La Cruze, que es una milla de la reserva de camping. Usted puede dejar Vereh por este autobús en M.W.F. A las 7:00 am. Una vez que haya alcanzado el Cruze (el T en la carretera) en Vereh salir, siga el signo a su derecha de una milla. El otro autobús de Turrialba te lleva hasta Jicotea. Tendrás una caminata de 10.2mi. Siga recto, siga las indicaciones, gire a la derecha en The Rock, que no se puede ver hasta que haya hecho el turno.
